Leisure and Tourism courses are aimed at those who wish to pursue careers in tourism, hospitality and catering industries, working for companies that operate domestically and internationally. These courses will prepare you to work in the service sector of economy, which in the modern world is increasingly important and generates a wide range of attractive jobs.

Throughout the course you will gain not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills that will enable you to design holidays and carry out itineraries for individual travellers and tourist groups, to design and organize tourism events, to develop attractive tourism products and services, etc. You will also cover topics on marketing, principles of advertising, pricing calculations and marketing strategies.

You will learn how tourist businesses operate and gain general knowledge on such topics as geography, marketing, economics, management and psychology.

There will be a lot of opportunities to put theory into practice – you will participate in trade fairs, field practice courses, trade events and will undertake your internship in renowned tourist companies both in Poland and abroad. As a student of Leisure and Tourism you can enhance your qualifications -  you will be offered a wide variety of additional courses to choose from and qualify as a tour manager, youth camp leader, fitness instructor, sport manager, ski instructor, school trip leader, canoeing instructor, advertising agent and licensed bartender. These coursesopen the door to a wide range of employment options during your studies and allow you to gain work experience.

After 3 years of study you will obtain a Bachelor's degree and may continue your education at the University College of Tourism and Ecology to pursue a Master's Degree within the Faculty of Leisure and Tourism.


During the course students undertake two internships: after the first year – in travel agencies and after the second year - in hotels, both in Poland and abroad. A strong international placement programme (part of the Erasmus programme) proves very popular among our students, who highly value this opportunity to gain experience and improve their command of a foreign language. Every year our Academic Office of Career provides students with a list of the best employers. There are  hundreds of jobs available to our students in travel companies operating domestically and internationally. Apprentices receive pocket money,  reimbursement of travel expenses, free accommodation and catering.

Major: Management of Specialized Tourism Product

This major is designed for:

- Managing staff and employees of commercial tourism industry entities;

- Future staff of units of local government, public administration and touristic organizations;

- Future employees of travel agencies;

- Leaders of agro tourism;

- People employed in local development agencies.

Selected learning content:

- Recreation, active and specialized tourism;

- City and cultural tourism;

- Spa tourism

- Business and motivational tourism;

- Tourism in rural and forest areas;

- Creation of touristic product.

In addition to that, the program of studies includes related specialty courses of general education and guarantees gaining knowledge in areas of, inter alia: marketing, psychology, law, economy, management, environmental ecology. In addition to classes in the halls of academia, students gain practical skills while participating in field workshops, scientific camps and national and international tourism fairs.

Graduate gains practical and theoretical skills regarding:

- Complex knowledge and skills concerning management of specialized tourism product;

- Marketing actions including publicity, price calculation, creation of attractive offers of specialized products;

- Professional customer service;

- Creation of various tourism products;

- Opening own units of touristic movement services;

- Creation and implementation of promotional and advertising action plans;

- Free use of the English language and second selected foreign language;

- Use of modern IT tools.

 

Major: Hospitality and Catering Industry

The course is aimed at those who wish to pursue careers as: 

- hospitality and catering managers; 

- specialists in the hospitality and catering sector, responsible for

- organization and management, 

- marketing, 

- personnel and human resource management, 

- customer care;

- employees of other sub-sectors of the catering, tourism and hospitality industries; 

- entrepreneurs running their own businesses in the catering and hospitality industry.

The main themes covered by the course include:

- hospitality and catering services;

- organizational structure and operation of hotels and catering establishments; 

- design and equipment of hotels and catering establishments; 

- hotel management; 

- commodity science with elements of technology; 

- the basics of nutrition; 

- Information Technologies in the hospitality industry; 

- management in tourism and leisure.

The course includes theoretical and practical training. It aims to develop students' knowledge and understanding of the hospitality industry and insights in the area of professional practice.

Participating in a rich programme of domestic and international internships, students will acquire skills necessary to work in a variety of management positions in the hospitality and catering industry. As the course emphasizes the command of foreign languages, our graduates can find employment throughout the world; our former students can be found working for many renowned hotels in attractive tourist destinations.

Graduates will acquire knowledge and practical skills in the fields of:

- comprehensive hospitality and catering services (marketing, advertising and promotion, management, reception positions, personnel of restaurants, bars, pubs, etc.); 

- organizational structure and working techniques in hotels and catering establishments; 

- management in tourism and the hospitality and catering industry; 

- professional customer service; 

- the English language and one other foreign language of the student's choice;

 

Major: SPA&Wellness Manager certificated by Polish Center of Testing and Certification

This major is dedicated for:

- Managing staff and employees of commercial tourism industry entities;

- Present and future managers of SPA&Wellness and managing staff of Spas, sanatoriums, wellness lounges, fitness clubs and beauty studios;

- Employees of fitness and wellness centers, leisure resorts and sport and recreation resorts;

- People planning to lead economic activities in the SPA&Wellness industry.

- Management of SPA resorts;

- Wellness and other SPA services;

- SPA tourism;

- Health training;

- SPA cosmetic equipment;

- Hospitality;

- Pedagogy of free time

- Theory and methodology of recreation.

Program of studies includes both theoretical and practical courses. Most of practical classes take place in the centers of SPA and Wellness. Students acquire knowledge and skills necessary to perform operational and managing roles in the industry. A graduate is also prepared to develop the program of recreation activities for people staying in Wellness and SPA resorts.

Graduate gains practical and theoretical skills in fields of:

- Organizing and managing of SPA and Wellness, wellness lounges, recreation resorts, fitness clubs etc.;

- Providing complex SPA&Wellness services;

- Methods and forms used in Wellness;

- Basic types of medical treatments used in health tourism;

- Medical infrastructure of SPA;

- Promoting pro-healthy lifestyle among population;

- Rules of use of sport activity in prevention of selected diseases;

- Possibilities of the use of physical medicine for needs of Tourism and Leisure.  

 

Major: Management of Regional and Local Promotion

This course meets the need to provide professional promotion of tourism in various regions of Poland. It is addressed to those who are interested in the development and promotion of local and regional tourism, particularly to employees of the public service. The training is designed to help administration personnel develop more effective and co-ordinated promotional plans, which will tie together experience, activities and interests of various actors operating in tourism such as local governments, trade associations and businesses. The course also covers development and implementation of projects financed by the EU.

The course is aimed at those who wish to pursue careers in tourism working for:

- local government units and public administration (city council offices, commune offices, district authorities, marshals' offices, etc.) and tourism organizations;

- regional development agencies;

- tour operators and other tourism enterprises.

The main themes covered by the course include:

- the region's economy;

- enhancing community participation and communication channels;

- the Internet marketing – the Internet communication;

- PR in commune management;

- brand management;

- local government finance;

- information systems in management;

- media strategy in advertising;

- merchandising.

Graduates will acquire knowledge and practical skills in:

- organization of tourism, enabling them to work in the tourism sector both public and commercial;

- management of a tourism enterprise;

- designing and implementation of co-ordinated promotional activities at the regional and local level;

- promotion of tourism within the region, carried out in Poland and abroad;

- designing and developing the region's tourism product;

- initiating plans for development and modernization of tourist infrastructure;

- conducting research and marketing analysis in tourism.

 

Major: Management of Sustainable Tourism

Sustainable tourism, an integral part of sustainable economic development so strongly emphasized by the European Union, is defined as environmentally-friendly tourism. It is opposed to conventional tourism (mass tourism), which often destroys the environmental intergrity and does not seek to support local economies. Sustainable tourism also means promotion of healthy lifestyles, living in harmony with nature, conservation of natural resources and indigenous cultures, creating new sources of income for local people, reducing waste and excessive energy and water consumption, encouraging environmentally friendly behaviour. The concept of sustainable tourism ties together development of tourism with local economic development, tourism activities with the protection of the natural environmnent.

The course is aimed at those who wish to pursue careers in tourism working for:

- local government units and public administration (city council offices, commune offices, district authorities, marshals' offices, etc.) and tourism organizations;

- regional development agencies;

- tour operators and other tourism enterprises.

The main themes covered by the course include:

- planning and monitoring sustainable tourism;

- aneco-friendly hotel;

- trends in tourism;

- sustainable marketing;

- management systems in tourism.

Graduates will acquire knowledge and practical skills in:

- organization of tourism, enabling them to work in the tourism sector both public and commercial;

- management of a tourism enterprise, based on the principles of sustainable tourism;

- promoting the region's tourism products and attractions;

- designing and developing the sustainable tourism product based on local attractions;

- environmental and health education addressed to the local community, local government units and and tourism industry employees.
